Helping with the medical needs of uninsured members of Volusia County.
A volunteer-based facility providing free health care for the uninsured and under-insured citizens.
ABOUT VOLUSIA FREE CLINIC
Volusia Free Clinic provides primary and preventative medical services to the low-income residents of Volusia County who have no health insurance and meet our criteria for services. Patients may be seen in our Ormond Beach or New Smyrna clinics or participate in tele-medicine visits as appropriate. We are a volunteer and donation-based organization and we welcome medically trained volunteers as well as administrative and support volunteers.
THE NEED
1 of every 5 adults age 19-64 in Volusia County has NO health insurance. That’s more than 63,000 of our neighbors and this number may be larger now due to Covid and loss of jobs.
Our taxpayer supported hospital emergency rooms serve as the primary care facilities for these adults at an average cost of $11,200 per visit (Halifax Health).
Citizens of Daytona Beach identified the need for health care for low-income adults as a priority strategy to be pursued in the City Commission-approved Vision Plan of 2010.
Volusia Free Clinic is supported by an all-volunteer medical staff working with state providing Sovereign Immunity.
